How Codex usage limits work

Codex usage limits depend on your ChatGPT plan and on the work you ask Codex to do. Larger repositories, longer-running tasks, more capable models and extended sessions can consume more of the included allowance than small tasks.

Your Codex usage page or in-product limit banner is the authority for your account. It shows the options available to you when the included allowance is exhausted, which may include waiting for the normal reset, using credits or changing plans.

A normal usage reset renews your own allowance on the schedule assigned to your account. UsageReset.at does not try to guess that personal clock.

An exceptional reset is a one-off restoration or bonus announced publicly by OpenAI.
